Get wedding insurance...

I get asked the question, "do I need to get wedding insurance?" a lot.

So, Here's a quick quiz on whether you should get wedding insurance:

QUESTION 1: Are you engaged?

if you answered yes: get wedding insurance

If you answered no: don't get wedding insurance

QUESTION 2: Are you spending money on your ceremony and reception?

if you answered yes: get wedding insurance

If you answered no: don't get wedding insurance

LAST QUESTION: Are you getting married in the summer/fall in the South? (during, you know, the "H" word season?)

If you answered no: you still need to get wedding insurance.

I'm pretty sure you get where I'm going with this. If you are planning a wedding, please get insurance.

When you are all swept up in the awesome whirlwind that is the engagement and planning, this is the last thing you want to think of, I know. But having this insurance if something happens will save you a lot of grief and money. Wedding insurance isn't just for "change of heart", so stop that thought right there. This stuff covers you if you have to cancel because of sudden illness or injury, venue cancellation, severe weather, etc. It's worth it.

Now that being said, read the coverage carefully. There's no point in wasting your money on a plan that doesn't cover anything realistic.

To get wedding insurance, talk to your homeowners insurance agent to see if they have a way to help. If not, try out these websites:
